DAWSON COUNTY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Job Title:  Firefighter/Paramedic & Firefighter/EMT 
Department:  Dawson County Fire & Emergency Services
Salary:  $52,313.16 Annually for Paramedic ($18.71/hr)  (plus $2.00/hr med unit incentive)
              $46,833.00 Annually for EMT ($16.75/hr)
Status:  Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
Perform a variety of emergency operations and paramedic duties to protect lives and property in simultaneous fire suppression, search and rescue, patient care activities and assure that all emergency equipment remains ready at all times to respond to emergency and non-emergency situations. 

Job Requirements:
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age; possess a high school diploma or GED.   Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.  NPQ Firefighter I, NPQ Hazardous Materials Awareness, NPQ Hazardous Materials Operations.  A valid Class E or F driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), along with the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.  Good verbal and written communications, have some knowledge of applicable state laws and county ordinances, and ability to communicate with the public on a daily basis.  Applicant must be able to pass all in-house testing requirements and a Physical Agility Test along with a Background Check and Drug Screen.  In addition to the above, see below for additional requirements specific to Paramedic or EMT:

Paramedic:
-Georgia State Paramedic License or National Registry
-Georgia State Certified Firefighter NPQ II preferred
-Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
-At least six months Paramedic experience is preferred

EMT:
-Georgia State Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT-I or EMT-A), or National Emergency Medical Technician Registry
