Parks and Recreation

Our Mission

Dawson County Parks & Recreation's primary mission is to create a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for which people of all ages can grow, benefit, and enjoy the quality of life through diverse recreational and leisure opportunities.

Parks & Recreation Overview

The Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and activities for all ages. We manage four parks, where you will find indoor facilities, such as meeting rooms and basketball courts, as well as a multitude of outdoor facilities, including playgrounds, a swimming pool, a splash pad, ball fields, tennis courts, and more!

Dawson County Parks & Recreation observes the regular federal holidays; see Supporting Documents section below for a printable list of the holiday schedule.

We strive to improve our department for the betterment of the community we serve.

For the safety of all involved and to allow us to offer quality programs and experiences to our community, the Dawson County Parks & Recreation Zero Tolerance Policy is strictly enforced.

In an effort to provide the community with a quick reference guide for our programs, we developed an information guide, which is split into two separate activity guides: Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall. The Winter/Spring Guide becomes available for distribution in January and will contain information for activities and events scheduled for January-May. The Summer/Fall Guide becomes available for distribution in May and will contain information for activities and events scheduled for May-December.  The activity guide is  distributed through the Dawson County Schools District.  Additional printed copies are available at the main office at Rock Creek Park, while supplies last.
