Registration Questions
Residents may register to vote or change their name and/or address:
- On Line:You must have a valid driver's license or ID card issued by the GA Department of Driver Services (DDS) with signature on file with DDS. Go to the Secretary of State's website, http://registertovote.sos.ga.gov/GAOLVR/welcome.do#no-back-button or download the free GA Votes app. You may download through Play store on Android or App store on I-phone.
- In Person: At the Dawson County BOER Office - 96 Academy Avenue, Dawsonville - M-F, 8 am - 5 pm
- By Mail: Mail applications directly to the Secretary of State's office or to the Dawson County BOER office. Applications are available on-line at http://sos.ga.gov/admin/files/Voter_Registration_Application_8-10.pdf, at the BOER office and at all public libraries.
- Department of Driver Services (DDS): May choose option to register while applying for Driver's License.
Residents may register to vote anytime; however, voters must be registered 30 days prior to an election in order to be eligible to vote in that particular election.
The qualifications to register to vote in Georgia are:
- You must be a citizen of the United States
- You must be a legal resident of Georgia and in particular a legal resident of Dawson County in order to vote in this county
- You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day
- You may not register if you are currently serving any sentence for the conviction of a felony or be judicially determined to be mentally incompetent.
Search Tips and Tricks
Yes. The website indexes web pages as well as PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, and text documents.
No. By default, the search results will show matches for any word within the phrase. In this example, you would receive results for all web pages and documents that contained either the word alarm or the word permit or both.
In order to search on an exact phrase, enclose your search phrase in quotations. The search results for "alarm permit" will show matches for that exact phrase.
Yes. You can exclude words by using the minus sign (-). In order to find the results of all pages that have alarm in the result but not permit, you would search for alarm -permit.
