Fire Prevention Division

Jeff Marshal, Div. Chief/Fire Marshal

Under the direction of Fire Marshal/Division Chief, the Prevention Division employs full-time personnel that are part of the Fire Services Administration Staff. Prevention Staff may work a regular 40-hour week, or a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the community. Their primary duties include commercial construction plan reviews, fire code inspections and enforcement, public relations and fire safety education, fire cause/arson investigations, community risk reduction, and various administrative responsibilities. Home fire safety inspections may also be requested free of charge, by residents of Dawson County.

Community Classes

The Prevention Division offers training and certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). For information on minimum class size, scheduling, and cost, please contact the Community Risk Reduction Office.
